Dr. C. Craig Peterson grew up in Niskayuna. His father, Dr. Charles Peterson practiced general internal medicine in Schenectady. After attending Tulane University in New Orleans he studied medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. Dr. Peterson returned to the capital region for his internal medicine training at Albany Medical Center. Dr. Craig Peterson worked at Ellis Hospital as a moonlighter while he did his Internal Medicine residency at Albany Medical Center. He joined Cardiology Associates of Schenectady in 1992 after completing his cardiology training at University of Massachusetts Medical Center. He was mentored in nuclear medicine during his training by world renowned Dr. Jeffrey Leppo.
Soon after joining Cardiology Associates of Schenectady, he developed their Nuclear Cardiology Program and has remained its medical director. Under Dr. Peterson’s direction, this program has been known in the region for not only being of the highest quality but for determining appropriateness of testing. Dr. Peterson performed diagnostic cardiac catheterization for many years and helped developing the coronary CT testing program.
Dr. Peterson has developed a large following of patients in both Schenectady and Gloversville. In addition to his superlative clinical skills he is well respected for his empathy and kindness.
