Dr. Douglas Long joined Drs. Nolan and Parkes in practice upon Dr. Matura’s retirement in 1987.  He had trained in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Boston University and Boston City Hospital and was extremely accomplished at management of critically ill patients.  He was a gifted clinician in both the hospital and office setting.  He was one of the original founders of Cardiology Associates of Schenectady.

In addition to his strong clinical skills, Dr. Long was regarded as a leader in echocardiography. He was very skilled with his hands which allowed him to be one of the first in the community to perform transesophageal echocardiograms and pacemaker implantations. He was instrumental in the development of and became the first medical director of the in – patient cardiac rehabilitation at Sunnyview Hospital.

The community was heartbroken when he passed away suddenly in 2013 at age 56.
