Dr. Vassolas attended the State University of New York at Stony Brook as an undergraduate earning his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry.  He received his Medical Degree from Albany Medical College.  He subsequently completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Albany Medical College where he also completed one year of fellowship in cardiovascular diseases.  He completed his cardiology training at the Lahey Clinic where he also studied cardiac electrophysiology under the direction of Schenectady native, Dr. Ferdinand Venditti.

Dr. Vassolas joined Cardiology Associates of Schenectady in 1992 and developed the electrophysiology laboratory at Ellis Hospital.  He offered electrophysiologic testing, pacemaker and defibrillator implantation and arrhythmia ablations.  He initiated a consultative electrophyisiological program which has grown to 3 physicians providing care for patients throughout the capital region of NY.

Under his supervision, Cardiology Associates became the leading practice for the office and telephonic monitoring of implantable devices.  He worked closely with Ellis Hospital to set up a congestive heart failure pathway and follow up clinic.  Much of the professional staff at the hospital have learned about arrhythmias and electrophysiology from Dr. Vassolas.
