Dr. Piacentine earned his bachelors degree in Chemistry, and Mathematics from Georgetown University, where he lettered in varsity baseball. Upon graduation from Georgetown, Dr. Piacentine spent two years as a research chemist at Pfizer. He earned his Medical Degree from the University of Medicine & Dentristry of New Jersey where he was elected to the National Medical Honor Society, Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Piacentine completed both his internship and residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in the Department of Internal Medicine. Subsequently, he completed his Fellowship in cardiology at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.
He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiovascular Disease.
Dr. Piacentine joined Cardiology Associates of Schenectady in 2011. He was instantly recognized as a gifted clinician with outstanding skills in echocardiography, hospital medicine and nuclear cardiology.
In addition to his busy clinical practice in Schenectady and Clifton Park, Dr. Piacentine has taken on leadership roles at Ellis Hospital and in the practice. He oversees quality improvement for the Cardiac Sciences Department at Ellis Hospital.
Dr. Piacentine became medical director of the echocardiographic departments of Cardiology Associates and Ellis Hospital in 2015. He has been involved in setting up the Ellis Hospital Pulmonary Embolism Response Team.
