Dr. Vakiener first came to Schenectady to attend Union College in 1971. He was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and graduated cum laude. He received his medical training at Albany Medical College. It was when he was a medical intern at Albany Medical Center that he first worked with Drs. John Nolan and Barry Lindenberg who were residents at the time. He completed a prestigious fellowship at University of Rochester followed by an additional year of invasive training at Albany Medical Center.

He joined Drs. Vacca and Lindenberg in practice in 1985. He was one of the original members of Cardiology Associates of Schenectady in 1990.

In addition to Dr. Vakiener’s superior knowledge and judgement he has always been considered one of the most dedicated and compassionate physicians.   He has been known to visit patients in hospital and home even when not on call. It is rare for any of his patients to leave the office without a bag filled with samples. His patients know that they have a doctor will go to any length to provide the very best of care.

Dr. Vakiener’s compassionate approach to patient care has had a major impact on the mission of Cardiology Associates of Schenectady.
